04.29.09 - "Cuter in color"

Maddie's been sitting up more lately. So much so that she tries to sit up when strapped in her car seat and starts to cry if you leave her lying on her back too long. I wanted to publish this photo of Maddie sitting on Angie's lap from early this evening in black and white but Angie overruled me saying she looks "cuter in color." I think she just looks cute. Period.

04.24.09 - Sound asleep

I got home late tonight after attending a wedding rehearsal near McPherson. I didn't think I'd stay past the actual rehearsal because I wanted to get home to see the family but the bride insisted that I eat dinner with them. And after finding out that they'd reserved a seat for me, how could I say no? So I sat next to an older gentleman - an uncle to the bride - who listened to me talk about Maddie (and Harley!) quite a bit! By the time I got home, Maddie was sound asleep on the sofa. She was so out of it, she never even woke when I took Angie, her and Harley for a spin in our fancy rental car ... a 2009 Camry. We currently drive a slightly older version of the same car. (Which means the rental ain't all that fancy!)

04.23.09 - Look, ma! Hands!

Maddie is becoming more active with her hands. Lately, she's been able to pull her binkie out of her mouth ... and put it back in. She gets quite a kick out of it. As do we. :)

04.22.09 - No pictures, please!

Apparently, Maddie didn't want to be photographed tonight. She kept pulling the blankie over her face and laughing quite a bit about it!

04.21.09 - Not quite tall enough

The phone book, which used to sit perched atop the fridge, is finally starting to see some use around our house. Maddie isn't quite tall enough to reach the floor when sitting in her new Jumperoo. Although at the doctor's office today she measured 25 inches, which puts her in about the 85th percentile. She's gonna be tall (we hope)!

04.20.09 - What are you looking at?

Angie called me over to see Maddie cuddling with her blankie tonight. One click of the shutter got her full attention.

04.19.09 - Good to be home

I spent the weekend shooting a wedding Lawrence. As soon as I got home I grabbed my baby girl and we took a nap on the couch. It's good to be home. I missed you, Maddie!

04.16.09 - Snoozin'

The therapist kinda gave us a hard time today for not doing more tummy time with Maddie. She's been getting 20 minutes or so at daycare and another 20 or so at home. She should be getting an hour or more! But, truth is, she doesn't yet tolerate being on her tummy much. Tonight, however, after spending about 30 minutes on her tummy, she feel asleep. Go figure.

PS - Daddy will be out of town until Sunday morning. Rest assured Mommy will be snapping some photos but the blog may or may not get updated before his return.

Recently Maddie discovered her hands. Last night she discovered her mom's.

Maddie's jumperoo arrived today! I'm not sure who was more excited: Maddie or her mom!

Maddie is much more fond of this Easter bunny than the one she met yesterday. It was a gift from Nan that she'd been holding onto for years but decided to give it to Maddie this year. Thanks, Nan!

04.01.09 - Meet Clark

Meet Clark, Maddie's first boyfriend. Their eyes connected last week at physical therapy and he was there again today for Maddie's appointment. We won't have to worry about seeing him at our next appointment in two weeks. Oh, no. He snuck into Maddie's diaper bag and found his way into our living room tonight, once again making eyes at Maddie. But I guess I'll let him stay. You could say that I've wavered just a bit on my "No Dating Until She's 32" rule. I figure there's no harm with letting Clark stay. He's only two-dimensional.
