Not a thing, chicken wing!

Miss Maddie is A-OK!

03.28.09 - More tummy time

Since Maddie isn't quite big enough to truly appreciate playing in the snow, we stayed in today and practiced more tummy time.

03.27.09 - Not letting go

We got off work early today because of the spring snowstorm. We picked Maddie up from daycare early and she spent the afternoon doing a lot of chores with us that would have otherwise gone undone. At one point, Angie brings Maddie down to the basement to watch me doing laundry. Maddie had ahold of Angie's hoodie. I could decide if she looked like she was a parachuting or if she were saying "Now that I've got you home, I'm not letting you go."

03.26.09 - Like father, like daughter

Today was a rough day. Maddie's been fighting a cold and none of us slept especially well last night. This afternoon I was informed that a dear family friend had passed away following a prolonged illness. After getting home and finishing dinner, the only thing I wanted to do was hold my little girl.

03.25.09 - Squirmy worm

Maddie is apparently a restless sleeper as this is how I found her when I woke her up this morning. I sure hope this isn't a sign of things to come!

03.24.09 - Hangin' out with my girls

Mom let me take more than an hour-long nap tonight to cure a terrible headache. When I awoke, it was my turn to spend some quality time with my girls. Harley is becoming more affectionate toward her baby sister. Tonight she gave her two tiny puppy kisses. She's really starting to come around!

Angie shot this picture using my 10.5 fisheye lens. Today's the third day in a row we've used this lens. I thought about cropping tighter on us but I didn't like how much of the room was lost in doing so. This is one of those frames we'll look back on in the years to come and say, "That's what the inside of our first house looked like!" Hopefully within a couple of weeks it will have that historical factor at play as we have plans to move the bookcase and to add some artwork to that wall.

03.23.09 - Hug me, Mommy!

We were warned when we picked Maddie up from daycare after work that she'd been a fussy pants most of the day so we were somewhat expecting that to be the case tonight. But not so! She must have just really missed her mommy and daddy because she was a smiley, happy girl as soon as we got home!

03.22.09 - Best Week(end) Ever

To say this weekend was anything less than amazing would be an understatement. We didn't do anything particularly thrilling. Mostly we stayed home and enjoyed our baby girl, who spent the entire weekend smiling and cooing at us. She's so happy virtually all the time. We're so blessed to have been given such a great gift!

03.21.09 - Hug me, Maddie!

Angie and I really love the weekends. We've spent the entire day listening to Maddie coo and enjoying her contagious smile. And she does some really cool and unexpected things, too. During playtime this afternoon, she gave her yet unnamed dolly, which we refer to as the "hugame doll," a giant hug with both arms while watching her Baby Einstein video.

03.20.09 - New socks

We've been having problems keeping Maddie's socks on her feet so tonight Gramma Karen dropped by with a few new pair that have elastic at the top. We'll let you know if we have any success. ;)

03.19.09 - Appetizer or leftovers?

Maddie has recently discovered her hands which means that when we put a bib on her it usually ends up in her mouth. I don't understand it. I tried one, and it didn't taste that good!

03.18.09 - Hey, Dad

Angie walked by me with Maddie tonight and I thought her expression was pretty matter-of-fact: "Hey, dad. What's up?"

03.17.09 - Chew on this

Maddie has begun grabbing at things the past few days. She especially enjoys pulling her bib up to her mouth.

03.16.09 - Who turned out the lights?!!

Maddie's headband slips over her eyes while at home tonight. Hey, if your head only measured in the 14th percentile, it would happen to you, too!

03.15.09 - Pop

Pop takes a look at Maddie as we arrive at Nan and Pop's house Sunday afternoon. Later in the evening Brent, Tori and the kids came over and brought dinner so we stayed out later than we intended, thus, no blog update last night. Maddie sends her deepest apology. ;)

03.14.09 - Here's lookin' at you, kid

I took Harley out to the backyard to play for awhile tonight and before long Angie and Maddie were sitting on the back porch watching.

03.13.09 - Eskimo Maddie

We went to visit Nan and Pop tonight, our new Friday ritual. It's a bit on the chilly side but with spring fast approaching we decided to let Maddie don her winter coat so that she'd get to wear it at least once as she'll definitely be too big for it next year.

03.12.09 - Tummy time with Dad!

Maddie spent a few minutes lying on my chest this evening. She's getting better at tummy time but still needs a lot of practice.

03.11.09 - Wait! Go back!

Maddie and I have been captivated with the TV lately, especially the MLB Network (much to Mom's disappointment). Today she nearly bent her head all the way back while sitting on her Mom to watch the first pitch between Team USA and Venezuela in the WBC. I'm sure she's just fascinated by the colors and movement (HD is so much better than SD!) but I'd like to think she's going to grow up to be a baseball fan!

03.10.09 - "I was here first!"

Harley doesn't mind sharing Mom's lap with Maddie but there's no way she'll ever give it up completely.

03.09.09 - PT

Maddie had her first visit to a physical therapist this morning to address the tortellini concerns we first mentioned here. After 20 minutes, the therapist concluded that Maddie was a perfect baby and that we just needed to practice a couple of stretches after each diaper change to encourage her to look more to her right.

Not to sound too conceited but I could have told you that we have a perfect baby!

03.08.09 - Two in the bed and the little one said ...

Rollover! Rollover!

Maddie rolled over on her own for the first time this morning while we were getting ready for church.

03.07.09 - Like mother, like daughter

Yup, she gets it from her mom. ;)

Update: Actually, Angie says Maddie looks a lot like me in this photo.

03.06.09 - Playin' two

As has become our Friday night tradition, we hung out with Nan and Pop tonight and Maddie was awake the whole time we played a noisy round of dominoes. She must be a good luck charm as Nan and Angie have easily beat Pop and I two games in a row.

03.05.09 - Hey, neighbors!

Our neighbors, Andrew and Tori, dropped by unexpectedly tonight for a short visit. They were returning a platter on which Angie had supplied Andrew full of chocolate chip cookies after helping me move some furniture downstairs. But really they wanted to see Maddie and Harley! Tori held Maddie the entire time they were here and Andrew got her to smile pretty big a few times. I think they'll make fine potential babysitters. And, as Andrew pointed out, "we're only 25 feet away."

03.04.09 - Pensive Maddie

Not sure why she looks so pensive, but shortly thereafter she started to drift off to sleep. Bedtime is starting to come earlier each night and we're so happy! Well, Mommy says she doesn't care but Daddy sure does!

Now, has anyone seen my other bootie?
